MUSEUMS / GALLERIES

Why have some ancient parchments survived for thousands of years, while others have deteriorated in very few? Research has confirmed that the most significant factor is the maintaining of constant temperature and humidity rather than the specific temperature itself.

Rosenberg + Associates museum design experience encompasses new construction, renovations, historic restoration, and adaptive reuse projects. Our projects include exhibition and storage facilities and archives, restoration work areas, auditoriums, administrative areas, and retail and food service departments, as well as complete infrastructure design and planning.

This expertise includes the design of environments for the display and storage of all types of materials; oil and watercolor paintings, animation art, documents, photographs, statuary, historic relics, fabrics, and architectural artifacts.

For me and the people who work for me, in a way what we do is less about the final product and more about achieving the final product, because that’s what we spend all of out time doing. So aside from the fact that we all consider ourselves lucky that we’re in a position to work with great clients and consultants, what matters to us is the process of doing it.

The project was the engineering equivalent of performing open heart-surgery while the patient is running a marathon. The entire HVAC system was replaced while still maintaining the temperature and humidity in every gallery within 1% of design conditions, at all times.
